Airport Ground Duty Staff

About The Career:

All airlines appoint ground staff for facilitating the passenger during their movement at the airport. The staff repents the airline to the passengers booked on their flights and are responsible for keeping liaison with the airport authorities. Airport authority also has a team of manager and personnel to take care of administrative, communication and air traffic management.



The Job:

Passenger services involves directing passengers, providing information, ticket issuing, checking boarding passes, luggage and cargo documentation,passenger listing etc. They provide information, attend to passenger queries, guide them through immigration terminals, custom checks and security clearances and to passengers needs till they are on the flight. Dispatchers to help to ensure flights depart on schedule. Station agents supervise the loading and unloading of baggage and assist disabled passengers while boarding. Traffic assistance oversee the loading and unloading of passenger luggage, issuing instructions to passengers while deplaning and arranging trolleys for carrying out their luggage. The Administrative staff on airports regulate the activities related to travel regulations, passengers services, immigration and custom regulations. The air traffic controller or ATCO is responsible for controlling the movement of aircraft on air routes and at airports during take off and landing. The communication officer is in charge of the general administration of communication facilities while the communication assistance supervises operative duties, keeps watch at positions in teleprinte exhange/distribution system at international station and holds charge of certain minor stations. The airports have managers to take care of its various departments.

Who Should Pursue It:

Interest in the service sector, good communication skills and a responsible attitude are at the
heart of this profession. Graduates with pleasant mannerisms and good peoples skills are most suited. Airport jobs are government jobs and involve responsibility.






Entry Route:

National and international airlines recruit graduates from applications submitted in their data bank. Selection examinination is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for Airport jobs.
